Level Up! ...and another, and... x)

Pasifika had been encouraged to gain some experience, and so she did, after the marvellous Anniversary ring made it very quick and easy - not always pleasant, though, but it wasn't all bad...

First Pasifika went to Altepa desert as white mage. Whith the permission from the party leader and no complaints from other members she happily meleed while carrying on her duties as the party's main healer.

It wasn't perfect, of course... there was that Antican aggro Pasifika sacrificed herself to defeat, and a fruitless trip to the Quicksand caves, which cost the party two members to mysterious 'zoned and never came back' -syndrome... but it was generally fun, until Mr. Rdm came around. First, he correctly identified the WHM and cast Refresh on her - cheer! - but when the first battle began... ,o_o,

"no"
"wtf"
"WHM's don't melee"

...and so the WHM sat huddled in her corner, casting occasional cures and hastes in the general direction of the rest of the party. -_- That guy had an opinion on other matters as well, and the worst thing was that he was mainly right, if you think about how things are usually done efficiently in a party... but all the fun was drained out of it by his all-too-rational and not-always-so-kind comments. ,-_-,

Although this experience was enough to make Pasifika decide she wouldn't party again in a lo~ng time, there are exceptions. Soon after her ordeal she proudly donned her Guide beret and headed out for some light-hearted partying with Linathra.

Pasifika was happy to adventure with the 3 and ½ member party in Qufim Island and Delkfut Tower, because all the members were good friends and none of them objected to the other one's style. (Well, Yufafa was quite possessive about Donthitme, always casting her cures and protects - who's the real WHM here, huh?)

Linathra did a good job as red mage and although Donthitme wasn't the best of tanks as Tarutaru dark knight, it wasn't that bad... Pasifika likes to be the mighty second tank! x) Too bad she could't wear her beautiful armor for this one.

While there is certain joy in being the *WHM* that melees, Pasifika did unlock paladin job, and under Linathra's watchful eye she took her wavering first steps as the white-mage-that-fights (without-being-frowned-upon). Ok, they weren't all that uncertain steps... x) With Donthitme the samurai (who had gained a level while trying to bloodport and so was a bit ahead of Pasifika's paladin ^^;) she easily defeated the enemies in Sarutabaruta - and quite enjoyed it, too. (Even though Donthitme seemed to feel a bit sorry for Pasifika, because changing to paladin meant considerable increase to her attacks... ^^;)

To balance it all out, Pasifika also spent some time playing Chocobo Hot & Cold with SnowyForest, who had learned the Treasure Finder ability. The 'treasure' wasn't that great in value, but looking for it was fun and it came in such a pretty treasure chest, too. :D

I so read that as "casting occasional curses and hates in the general direction"... oops. XD

And about the meleeing. There are times when a WHM can melee, and when a WHM can not melee. Zero has written a wonderful guide for anyone playing WHM as main job, read it when you have time. :3 http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/White_Mage_Guide_by_Zero

Despite an apparently widespread belief, white mages don't cast curses on people! :O (Usually... XD)
Hmmm... the guide states the very same reasons for not meleeing that I've come up with my (un)common sense - I do refrain from meleeing in some circumstances, as hard as it may be to believe. x) For example, if someone in the party isn't comfortable with melee WHM, I won't fight, but... I won't be very comfortable then. ^^;
