Old year

It has been a long year, filled with adventures. Here is a little compilation, gathered from the hundreds of pictures. These show some memorable moments with friends: just chatting, adventuring, preparing for battles, fighting...

Remember those missions? We did the tough fights together, and then Pasifika reported back and the mission givers all assumed she had won on her own... and sho got the rewards, too. ;P
And Besieged... there has been many, but I'll always remember the one where Ntfc nuked Gulool Ja Ja - outside Al Zahbi's gates. As I recall, he died while trying to get in... ^^; Oh, there was also the one where Pasifika got charmed and Phu nuked her. :O Luckily she had stoneskin up, but the lamias took revenge on poor Phu anyway. x)

One day there was a very tough NM Chaos Idol up in Delkfutt's Tower, and Kendraian charged it head on, with the brave tarudin Donthitme. They managed to keep it for a while, too, and then buy enough time for their whm to escape, not bad. Luckily other enemies there were a lot easier. ;)
Exping is rarely a pleasure, but with friends it can be fun. Not always easy, though, but there's often a kind soul ready to raise an adventurer or two. ^^

Oh, oh, and once Pasifika soloed the scary (and easy prey) Kraken in Qufim to save Lina from it! That was a tough fight indeed, but the brave whm was victorious! :D
Then there was the wedding, too... *_*

...and numerous other events, and untold numbers of memorable moment, but let's not list them all here. Even the video is less than a minute long... sorry about the fast pace and 'selective memory', but I had to at least try to keep this short. :o

Here's another little video, made to thank a special someone (you might be able to guess who when you watch it) for some specific favours (I think you can guess which, too ;P), but I hope it'll convey some warm feelings of gratitude to other dear friends as well. If I were a comet, I'd always light up your sky and illuminate your path... ^^

Silent Night...

It was *supposed* to be a nice, quiet evening...
The scatterbrained Moogles would need some more help with the presents, that'd be fun. And those elvaan kids, always planning something... Pasifika thought she'd follow them with Ntfc and maybe some others, that could actually turn out to be interesting...

But no.
All of a sudden it was

Mission Time!

Yay...

At least it's quiet here, most of the time.

Eerie, even.

But it's all gray, no colours anyhere...

Well, we made it to the top. Hurray. (Let's rest for a while.)

The Starlight Celebration~

It's time to give kiddies their presents, and greeting cards to fellow adventurers...
Here's a greeting from Pasifika, to all friends! ^^

And here's a clip about an ancient San d'Orian Starlight Celebration tradition, which apparently has been adopted elsewhere during the recent years. x)
When darkness falls in front of Chateau D'Oranguille, it begins... *_*

Free time...

What goes on in Vana'diel during maintenance...?
I'm not thinking about GMs running wild, but more along the lines of what would the vana-people do when there's nothing special to do, no beastman attacks, no quest-giving... :o

This might not answer the question, but it has kept me busy during maintenance, and a good while more. x)
It's hobbies like this that keep away that strange thing called 'life'...

The Shadow Lord, revisited

Last time Pasifika ventured up to the north in search of the great dark menace, she could do very little to thwart the threat - instead, General Phucrabiont beat the gigantic golem for her. As always, everyone - including Star Sibyl herself - happily assumed little Pasifika, whm lvl 50 at the time, had done it all by herself, and she was rewarded accordingly. ;P

Now Linathra told Pasifika the old pest was rearing its ugly head again, and Pasifika agreed to help her. This time she was much more useful in the battle to save the world... Thanks are due to the brave adventurers that helped in the Shadow Lord fight and the one leading up to it, but it was Pasifika herself who defeated the horrendeous Shadow Lord!
She really did, there's proof! (Click the pic to see better. Click it~!)

The world has been be saved!
...once again.

This is one White Mage you don't want to mess with!

If you don't mind... ^^

In the shadows

The long struggle to get the White mage AF has finally reached it's conclusion, and Pasifika steps out of the shadows in her new, ah-so-white-mage-y set of armour. Well, maybe they're technically robes or something, but they're shiny~ *_*

Well worth all that trouble. ^_^

Especially because Pasifika didn't have to kill on her own all those horrid undead monsters the San d'Orians were so worried about - but she's happy to take all the glory. ;P

And the Holy brestplate still looks good, too.

(Oh, btw, there's no music at the beginning, although there's some later on in the video, so don't turn that volume up right away even though you don't hear anything when the vid starts playing. :P)

Now it's time to take over the w... um, to look forward to new, exciting adventures, I mean.

Battle Angel Pasifika

Pasifika had been getting more and more involved in some San d'Orian machinations, but it was time for a little change of pace... Lina and Donthitme invited Pasifika on a different kind of adventure. She dressed up the best she could, but her old white mage robes weren't quite suitable for a tank - which she was expected to be.

Some trades later: Pasifika, the mighty but scantily clad paladin, is ready to dash out and vanquish some e~vil yagudos in Giddeus.

Kill~! Kill~~!!

But don't you dare look this way! :o

The yagudos weren't much of a challenge, but Pasifika and her friends stripped them of their jewelry anyway and delivered their loot to the infamous cat burglar... all in the name of justice, of course. ;P
Nanaa Mihgo complimented Pasifika for being smart, but she was probably admiring the outfit as well - they're pretty similar. Nanaa's has a bit of lace and lovely colour, though, but once Pasifika starts studying dance, she'll get some cute ones as well.

You just wait.

Winds of change... or a gentle a breeze, at least

New important missions and battles, and all that... but most importantly, a new spell for white mages and the long-awaited Mog House visiting possibility!

Ok, grab a scroll of Repose and learn it... check.

Go into someone else's Mog House and take lots of pics... check.

Not that much else to do for now... just hanging around in a Mog House not my own. Whee! :D

I guess that Moogle might be feeling a bit crowded, though. Well, if the host didn't want his guests to annoy his Moogle, he shouldn't have told us it dispenses drinks when you pull it's pompom. xD

Clothes make the mage

Finally Pasifika can disguise herself and pass for a proper white mage. :D Well, one more level for the mitts, but no one notices them... x)

Coming this far has taken time and effort, and for a moment it looked like it might've all been in vain... Pasifika ended up in a party with another white mage, and it seemed like she had gotten her AF from a box of Cheerios that morning. ;>_>

Well, after a while the other whm actually turned out to be a nice and mostly effective healer, but apparently she has gratuated from the same fine institution all healer npc fellows come from (well, except for Efe, perhaps o_o;). She promptly keept barfira up in case the Lesser Colibris decided to suddenly breath fire, and she also silenced the birds at every opportunity. Since no one got burned and Pasifika didn't see those birds cast a single spell, that must've been a very effective strategy.

The two white mages took turns to keep the party alive in the midst of the non-stop pulling, and gradually Pasifika started meleeing while waiting for her turn (with full MP), and even during it, since a strange rdm came to stand by the party and he occasionally cast haste on all the other melees.

After the other whm was replaced with a rdm, however, Pasifika put on her 'I'm a real whm' -robes on and stayed back. Dull, but well worth it because of the last charge in the Anniversary ring. (Goodbye forever, fantastic exp ;_;)

The cool gang

Everybody wants a pair of these cool shades, but only a select few have them. ...so far. By the end of next week, not only everyone has them, but they'll be so~ out, too. x)

(Huge crystal... Shiny~~ *_*)

Oh, there's the matter of proving which nation was the greatest, but, um... that's just an excuse, right? Phu couldn't have had any ulterior motives when he suggested San d'Oria as a base of operations... right? ^^;

Pasifika's step-by-step guide: Goldfish Bowl

You will need:
1 Sunbreeze festival
1 Goldfish bowl (note that this is not the same Goldfish bowl as the one we're making)
1-??? Super scoops
1 Goldfish set
1 Only slightly over-prized Glass sheet
1 Piece of Lauan lumber
1 Crawler calculus
1 Tiny goldfish
1 Black bubble-eye
1 Friend with decent to very tough crafting skills
1 Linkshell
1-??? Additional friends
Some other items for the craft, like a Bottle of Sieglinde putty, a Bronze ingot and a Light crystal
The list above may not be complete, so follow these instructions to aquire the required materials and resources to get your very own Goldfish bowl furnishing - in 8 easy steps!
  1. Wait for Sunbreeze festival. Once it arrives, get your Goldfish bowl and as many Super scoops as you need and get scooping. Tear your gaze off the hypnotic dancing Tarus long enough to get enough fish for the Goldfish set - but don't turn them into points! Be really smart and give them to your friend with crafting skills, so *he*(/she) can get the Goldfish set, because its ex. (It's not rare, so don't worry - your friend can get their own, too! :D Optionally, you can get the set for yourself and take the "risk" with that lvl 10 woodcraft synth, but where's the fun in that?)
  2. Check for the price of glass sheets at Jeuno AH and be horrified. D: 10 or even 20 times as much as usually, because of the festival! Check the prices again a couple of times, then forget about it untill your friend with crafting skills (who's keeping your Goldfish set) reminds you about it after a couple of months.
  3. Get moving! Keep checking the prices of some necessary items and grab them off the AH when you can! Send them to your other character for safekeeping, because your inventory is constantly overflowing anyway.
  4. Realise that there are no suitable fish for sale at the AH and you sold all you had left to NPCs when the Sunbreeze festival ended. Get your Goldfish bowl and that 1 last Super scoop out of storage (Who would throw something like that away?) and very carefully scoop up some fish - don't rip that last scoop! You can get some nice goldfish in the moats in Northern San d'Oria, for example. Ignore the stares as you fish with your scoop, they're just jealous because they've run out of Super scoops already.
  5. Buy a Lauan log and get a Wind crystal, then craft the log into a piece of Lauan lumber. Even *you* can do that much, and it gives the finished item a nice homemade touch.
  6. Change into lvl 8 WAR/WHM and go Crawler hunting with your friend for the Crawler calculus. Get killed by 3 Yagudos and a Goblin, then ask for a Raise in your linkshell because your homepoint is somewhere far away. Finish your hunt for the calculus, but be more careful this time.
  7. Check that you now have all the necessary items for the craft, and tell your friend with crafting skills that you have them ready. When they tell you they didn't mean they're in a hurry about it when they reminded you about the Goldfish set, tell them *you're* in a hurry now that you remembered it. Send them the items ASAP and have them craft the Goldfish bowl somewhere where you can see them - it's a Light crystal synth, so it's beautifully sparkly and shiny. *_*
  8. Take the finished Goldfish bowl to your Mog House, place it in your collection with all the other items that have moving/shiny parts and admire it.. the fish really move! Just a little, but they do move...

Here they swim peacefully to the first notes of "Kingyo Hanabi" ('Golfish Fireworks') sung by Ai Otsuka.

It's getting closer..!

Soon Pasifika can wear the white-and-red robes that so easily set 'real' white mages apart from the rest of the crowd..! The Holy breastplate will not be going to some dusty storage, though, I has it's uses. ;)
How can it be that the little clumsy whm who only yesterday (or maybe last year) just learned her Cure II has come so far? The answer is simple: friends.

Getting the parts of the AF armour required a good deal of work, and from hunting coffer keys with little Donthitme to vanquishing evil enemies with General Phucrabiont, Pasifika has constantly had some very good company by her side. ^_^

Talking about different kind of 'company', especially Marquise Altedour I Tavnazia has become familiar to Pasifika during this series of quests, because even the church in San d'Oria seems to be deeply involved in plotting and machinations, and so the little white mage got caught up in it, too. They didn't bother to tell her the excact details of the final outcome of the whole deal, though, but instead shooed her off with a couple of grateful words - and some pieces of the armour set! I suppose that's fair enough. x)

Getting the armour set has been a long process, but there's still some work to do before Pasifika can wear it in all it's white-magey glory. (The pics of the armour will come some time after she can war the body part, because without it, it's just not right... especially the cap. ^^;)
It souldn't take very long now, but it may be a little while... Pasifika isn't excactly party type whm, but she can occasionally pretend to be one to get a couple of levels. x)

Putting some robes on, hiding the hammer and equipping a staff, all those little details can make her look so much more like a 'regular' white mage. (Most of her party invites come from some desperate parties who haven't seen her and don't care about the fact that she doesn't have her flag up, though. I guess they should be happy with whatever thay manage to get, then... x)

The latest party experience wasn't a particularily bad one, because killing poor, innocent little colibris was relatively easy and the rdm/whm kept hogging all the work. ;) She cast haste on all the melees, refresh on anyone with mp, enfeebled the birdies and often beat Pasifika to the cure after Pecking flurry dropped someone's hp too low.

Sure it was somewhat annoying at first, because Pasifika is a bit on the slow side in parties and well aware of it, but it probably just has to be accepted that red mages can do pretty much everything, and they do it faster, too. x) All in all, she was a really lovely rdm. This party was an easy one, and the exp was good (with Empress band and Anniversary ring ;P), so maybe it's not that bad after all. (Well it is, but let's pretend it's not... there's some hard partying ahead before lvl 60!)

Trick and treat!

First the treat!

A cute little Mandragora lantern, finally in Pasifika's Mog House! ^_^ Ok, it's a little bit eerie when viewed close up, but that's probably the point... it's a Harvest Festival decoration, after all. It's shiny, sparkly and very visibly *not* made of a poor hollowed-out Mandy, so it's just perfect. <3

The Harvest Festival celebration has begun, but the sinister witches everyone was so worried about during the last Harvest Festival are now celebrated in cities all across Vana'diel... go figure.

Pasifika has joined the festival processions in Windurst and Bastok so far, but only as a monster following the witch... Why can't she be the lead actor? She'd make a perfect ghost, and she even has the right clothes. :o

Well... ok, it's better to just follow this galka ghost, although that's a nice name... He's probably not a relative to Celestial Heart, though. x)

Poor galka, he seems so lost - doesn't that just prove Bastok is a difficult city to navigate?

The trick part... the Moogles are doing a great job at that. -_-; Both the Festive Moogle and the more 'plain' Moogle at Port Bastok were all exited about the splendid gifts they had for adventurers - but not for Pasifika! 'Ah, but it looks like I have nothing for you! Sorry!' ;_;

In Bastok Markets, the Moogles were a bit odd, too. Sure they had some advice about the event, but what does it mean..? 'That's the kye, kupo!' o_O;

Run away, Mandy!

Star Sibyl has been warning everyone of great evil that could awaken any moment, and now Pasifika saw some evidence of it with her own eyes: a blodthirsty elvaan had appeared, and he was roaming Sarutabaruta, killing mandragoras. D: Poor little plantoids didn't stand a chance! Even though the mandys only came up to his knees, he reached down with his sword to cut them down... ;_;

Come on, my shiny mandragora! Fight, fight!

But even this mandragora murderer wasn't entirely heartless - see, he's weeping oven the slain mandy, regretting what he had done...

Garuda, I choose you!

Well, that's not excactly what happened... ^^;
Pasifika hasn't done much of, erm, summoning, and there's no way she could have persuaded an avatar (other than sweet, sparkly Carbuncle) to join forces with her, but she has connections... /nod /nod

So, here we see certain mysterious elvaan General telling Garuda to do like Pasifika says! x)

(Hmm... He might not want to take Pasifika along for these excursions very often, though... she just kept asking 'Can I cure you yet?' until she got permission... ^^; And then she got carried away with the cures enough to get the avatar's attention, and Garuda hits pretty hard, even if it was just for a short while. ;_; But they say all's well that ends well... :D)

Besieged, yet again

Finally Pasifika's hard efforts are starting to pay off! She has faithfully defended poor Al Zahbi on countless occations, but all the Serpent Generals have had to say are grunts, or even insults! D: Not anymore...

Well, Gadalar is still his usual self, looking down on the little adventure/mercenary, but Najelith, Rughadjeen and Zazarg are so happy to see Pasifika! :D They have confidence in Pasifika's abilities, and Rughadjeen even went as far as declaring it's an honour to fight by Pasifika's side. ^_^ That's more like it!

It's just that... Mihli... ;_; She has been Pasifika's favourite, because she's a white mage and all, but recently Pasifika found out some surprising things. Mihli has... a past. >_>

That would be ok, Pasifika also has an embarassing past (as a total n00b), but the way Mihli handled the situation... -_- Doesn't she trust Pasifika one bit!? ,o_o,

Pasifika will still be there to defend her, but for now, Mihli's mithra fan club can keep her company while waiting for the attacks - Pasifika is warmly welcomed elsewhere.

How did Pasifika come across the intreresting - and sometimes secret - stories about the Serpent Generals' past? Well, it was all because of this one tarutaru bard, Fari-Wari the Egotistical... He had already made Pasifika do some of his work earlier - and then claimed all the glory for himself - and now he planned to use Mihli's story for purposes that were definitely not dignified enough for it! He also tried to dump his debtors on poor Pasifika, and then had her do some more of his work for him... but who could resist these tarutaru puppy eyes? There there, don't cry little taru... ^^;;

Well, no wonder the Serpent Generals want Pasifika to defend their city... when the Besieged started, there was no one to be seen! o_o Just Pasifika... and the attacking Mamool Ja army. >_> Oh, there was an abandoned flock of wyvers... if they follow Pasifika home, can she keep them?
Luckily, another of Al Zahbi's seasoned defenders also appeared, General Phucrabiont! As a deadly ninja he quickly moved from enemy to enemy, defeating them one by one. Not *all* alone, though - Pasifika was there, too! x) She was pretty efficient even by herself, and the mobs she approached often died even before she had finished casting. ^^;

And here's some more on the topic of Mihli and her, erm, past:

Warning #1: Although the material from cutscenes has been rearranged and some even altered, this contains spoilers for those who haven't completed Mihli's quest.
Warning #2: Although there's material from the cutscenes, it's all so jumbled up you probably won't know what's going on if you haven't completed Mihli's quest. ;P

Hard day's night

Pasifika has been working hard to obtain parts of the White Mage armor. Sometimes she has had the help of an alliance of up to six, plus their adventuring fellows, but mainly she's been accompanied by Phucrabiont and Donthitme.
Lots of hard work, but what if becoming a proper White Mage actually just means becoming a run-of-the-mill, thirteen-in-a-dozen healer - see, the assimilation has already begun! Just line them all up and you can't tell them apart! D: ->

But no... see the Bridal Corsage? And can you imagine the equipment change into her battle gear when she gets up? Pasifika will *never* be a normal White Mage! Erm... I mean... ^^;

Anyway, after a hard day's work, Pasifika enjoyed the evening with Phucrabiont. Here's your guide to some of the most beautiful and romantic spots in Windurst:
The airship terminal in Port Windurst holds a special meaning for Pasifika and Phucrabiont, because that's where the two met for the first time. Guided by the lighthouse, the airship glided into the harbour, and outside the teminal, Pasifika first laid her eyes on the tall dark stranger that has become so familiar now...

Dusk and dawn are beautiful almost everywhere, but the sea and the lighthouse create a particularily romantic backdrop for a relaxing moment. *_* Airships come and go, transporting busy adventurers, but this couple is in no hurry... ^_^

Another nice spot in Port Windurst is a small bridge near the shops, where you can see a little waterfall and colourful windmills in one direction, and the shop ships in the other. Also, you can see passing galkas, tarus, linkshell members... ^^;
Phu didn't have his beach gear with him, but a local elvaan had... he stopped for a moment to admire the handsome couple and compliment them - probably. Tarutarus aren't the only ones around here who speak a bit incomprehensibly. x) Phu naturally questioned the stranger's motives as he stood there staring at Pasifika, but she had no intention of leaving her General's side for some beach boy. ;)

In Windurst Waters, the radioact... I mean magically enhanced water lilies glow beautifully as soon as it starts getting darker. Pasifika and Phucrabiont sat down to admire the display of shinyness in this secluded spot, where no one wandered past them. Even the mithra who had been standing nearby and fishing non-stop had the decency to take a break as the couple seated themselves in front of the radiant flowers. *__*
Time flew by, and the vibrant colours of sunset faded to reveal the blue velvet of the night... Soon stars dotted the dark sky, but the flowers kept pulsing with light throughout the night.

Ah, you ask how Pasifika would know that? ;>_> Well... she stayed there all night... just to verify that they stayed alight, that's right... And Phucrabiont was there... to... to keep her warm. Yeah, chilly nights in Windurst at this time of the year and, unlike San 'dOrians, little Windurstian humes aren't used to such extreme temperatures... x)
