The Royal Wedding! ^_^

Basic information
  • Date: 6.7.2007
  • Time: 2 pm PST (10 pm GMT)
  • Place: Chateau d'Oraguille in San d'Oria
  • Bride: Pasifika
  • Groom: Phucrabiont
  • Chaperone: Donthitme
Guests should make sure to be on time, but they need to wait near the NPC Halver in the Great Hall until called into the garden by the chaperone. He'll give the guests festive crackers and some instructions before leading them into the ceremony area. Everyone should walk instead of running.

Wedding etiquette

The wedding is a solemn event, and it should be observed with respect. Some simple wedding etiquette points to remember:
  • Please don't move around needlessly during the ceremony.
  • No unnecessary chatting during the ceremony, please.
  • Also don't cast spells, synthesize, use unnecessary items or do anything else that disturbs the ceremony.
  • Fighting or bringing monsters to the wedding site is forbidden, but that probably won't be a problem, because the wedding is in the city, in Chateau d'Oraguille.
Guests will probably recieve more detailed instructions on the wedding day, but the main guidelines should be something like this: After the guests are allowed in the garden, they should settle down on the lawn on either side of the path leading to the Queen's garden. The guests will sit still during the ceremony, but at the end they stand up to clap their hands and use the crackers provided to them to congratulate the newlyweds.

Attire
There is no specific dress code for the wedding, but please do wear something decent. It'd be great if the guests would think about their gear for a bit and wear something they think looks nice and/or otherwise suits the occasion. Helmets, masks, visors, faceguards and other unsightly hedgear should not be worn, but otherwise it's ok to have headgear. Female guests shouldn't wear the Opaline or Ceremonial dress, obviously.

Other points to consider
  • The guests will recieve festive crackers to be used at the end of the ceremony, so having space in your inventory would be a good idea.
  • The wedding should be a pleasant experience for all, but it is a *ceremony*, so everyone must be on their best behaviour. There will be a party later, and that's the right place for any speeches, jokes and such you might have been planning.
  • The number of guests in the ceremony is very limited. Only those invited by the bride, groom or chaperone can attend, so your friend who's always wanted to see a Vana'diel wedding will have to keep waiting.
  • Before the wedding day, you can ask questions related to the wedding from the bride, groom and chaperone. However, on the day of the wedding and especially during the last hour before the ceremony we might be busy, so if you have something to ask, please don't leave it to the last minute. If you have to ask something during the actual ceremony, ask the chaperone.
  • We've been asked whether guests should bring gifts, so here we go: We'll certainly be delighted if you bring something, but that really isn't necessary. Note that there's no time during the ceremony when gifts could be reasonably traded (as far as I know), so it would have to be done after the ceremony, at the reception or at some other point.
The party
There will be a wedding reception party after the ceremony itself in the Kokba Hostel in Aht Urghan Whitegate. We will reserve it from 3 pm PST (11 pm GMT). The number of guests is not limited there, so anyone wishing to celebrate Pasifika's and Phucrabiont's wedding is welcome. Guests are free to spread the word about the reception, but it'd be nice to know who/about how many are expected to come, so please tell us, too. ^^ (No, you can't bring your random exp party or that LS we've never heard of... It's still restricted to people we know *somehow*, like - for example - those in Europa LS.) Entry into the Kokba Hostel requires a small fee and a password, the chaperone will be able to tell you the password when the reception is about to start.

What's all this about a royal wedding?
Phucrabiont has recently earned the title "San d'Orian Royal Heir", so as far as we're concerned, this is a royal wedding. ^_^ This aspect gives titles some special weight, so it might be nice if you gave your title some thought, too. As with the clothes, you certainly don't need to go out of your way if you don't feel like it - it's just a suggestion. While checking may be quite rude, the chaperone has been charged with the duty of checking guests to see what kind of people attend this royal wedding. ^_~ (But this will take place in the reception party, not at the ceremony.) Oh, if you'd prefer not to be checked, let him know.
